Being in the profession of photography for many years, I have been asked many times what is it about photography that keeps me going. What is it that inspires me to wake up every day and be ready to take all new photographs speaking different language each day? The answer is always the same – I love art. I see life as a form of art. It was only after I got into this profession that I realized that how being behind the camera can open your eyes to so many aspects of life. You see all those things that make up life itself. For me, it is the idea of creating magic for my clients that keeps me going.
Photography has taken me to places, which I never imagined about, and has instilled in me a new sense to see all the colors in a new light. This anticipation to reveal the unknown is what keeps me inspired. I stay inspired by being open minded to everything that comes my way. One of the things I love about photography is how I get to learn about different cultures and different traditions. I learn about how different cultures deal with a situation and how it is handled with. I learn about ways to see life from a new angle every time. Anyone who is looking for ways to keep feeding their photography passion; here are ways you can stay inspired with photography.
- Pep talk! -You are preserving the most cherished moment of someone’s life
The most essential thing to remember for any artist is the fact that it is human nature to ‘create’. It is innate in us that we must build something; we must create something and see it come to life. You have to remind yourself again and again that you are creating something meaningful with every click of your camera. The idea that you are giving life to a moment that will be gone within a blink of an eye, you are preserving that moment forever for someone. This should keep you going.
- Travel with your camera
Go to places. Each place holds views and feelings waiting to be explored and touched by you. And while you do so, take your camera along. The idea that you might never get back to that place again is enough to make you want to capture it all. Keep travelling. Photography is not only about taking photos. It is about experiencing life with a second pair of eyes.
- Let music guide you
Music is a force that drives our emotional flow and our emotions hides the gems of inspiration. Keep your playlist with you whenever you go out to see a new place. Listen to it while taking pictures. The rhythm will let you see patterns and flow of things around you and open your mind to see things with a different perspective.
- Challenge yourself
Make a list of colors, patterns, go-words and cues for you to capture. Every day challenge yourself to stick to your go-word and do this for 2 weeks. You can do this at different places whenever you go to visit a different country or city and ‘collect’ bits and pieces from everywhere you go. You can do this month wise as well. Set a specific theme for each month and capturing that theme from wherever you can. Set an element for each month and try bringing it out in your photos.
- Keep experimenting with lens
Each lens allows you to see a view, with a different perspective. You do not necessarily have to buy a new lens. You can always rent one or borrow from your friend to keep your passion alive and growing. Photography is one of those professions that can never go mundane as long as there are eyes to see.
